Nigel the pig

Adorable Nigel has now been at the sanctuary for just over a year!  Prior to Nigel’s arrival, he was sold to a lady as a micro pig by the open farm for just seventy-five pounds, but micro pigs do not exist!  A couple of days passed and Nigel, being a pig obviously started to display his natural behaviours, expected as he is a sentient animal of his own desires and will.  Because Nigel was not behaving in desirable ways, he was selfishly locked in the kitchen waiting to be disposed of at the slaughterhouse.

Luckily our friends at pigs in the woods told us about Nigel’s unfortunate start in this world, and the sanctuary was able to rescue him!  Nigel will never have to worry again about being isolated in a room again or being sent to the slaughterhouse, as he is now a free pig doing what piggies should be doing!

On Nigel’s arrival to us, early last year Gus and Pete (sadly Gus passed away last year) immediately took Nigel under their wing, settling Nigel in nicely with constant squished up snuggling every night!

Nigel now a full-grown adult is undoubtedly just as adorable, although Nigel prefers to keep himself to himself you can always count on him being first to say good morning!  Nigel loves chilling in the sun, playing with his bead maze roller, snuggling with his other piggy friends, and of course can’t resist a good belly rub dropping, down to the ground as soon as one of our volunteers touches his belly!  Nigel looks forward to warmer sunnier days where you can catch him in the wallow cooling down, protecting his skin from the sun!
