New Arrival: Manuka!

Everyone meet Manuka!

He is a 3-year-old guernsey cross goat who has been at the sanctuary for a few months now. He was rehomed to us back in May after his previous home could no longer look after him.

Initially he was very timid, staying towards the back of the quarantine stall each time we went near him. Slowly, and with lots of treats, Manuka gained his confidence around us.

Once he had finished his quarantine period, we moved him to the lower paddock so that he could see the rest of our goat boys; Brian, Tommy and Rockstar through the fence. This is the first time that we have introduced a new goat to the herd for a while, so we weren’t sure how Brian (the top goat in the group) would react.

After a few weeks chatting through the fence, we let them in together. It was a great success! Manuka has fit in very well and enjoys following Brian around, learning how to be mischievous by headbutting the fences, jumping up trees to eat the leaves and playing with the other goats. Manuka has the sweetest little voice and enjoys a quiet treat from our volunteers when the other goats aren’t watching!

We were able to offer Manuka a home because of our wonderful monthly donators - who keep the sanctuary running. If you’d like to set up a monthly donation, please click the button below.
